Sindh govt, ANF sign MoU to run two drug rehab centres

Sindh federal government and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Monday signed MoU to run two drug rehab centres in Karachi.

Social Well-being Department Secretary Dr Shereen Mustafa and ANF Joint Director Lt Col Anwar Hussain signed the MoU in the existence of Social Well-being Minister Sajid Jokhio and ANF Leader Brig Viqar Rizvi.

Based on the contract, ANF will handle the drug rehab centres to be developed at KMC Leprosy Hospital Manghopir and Youth Advancement Centre at Malir.

According to Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, the facility of drug rehab centers throughout Sindh would be performed through public-private collaborations.

He stated this today while commanding an crucial conference relating to developing a centre for fixing up drug addicts in Sindh.

Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon, IG Ghulam Nabi Memon, Secretary School Education Ghulam Akbar Laghari, Secretary Social Well-being Department Dr Shereen Mustafa, DG Public Private Collaboration Assad Zamin and agents of Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) took part in the conference.

Rajput stated that the provincial federal government would provide funds, structures and other centers, and the personal celebration will handle the drug rehab centre based on global practices.

He directed Public-Private Collaboration Director General Assad Zamin to prepare all the required files. He stated personal organizations for the collaboration would be offered through a competitive bidding process.

Rajput even more stated that a project associated to drug use would be introduced on media and social networks to make the masses conscious.

He stated besides the two rehab centres to be managed by ANF, all other personal drug rehab centres in the province will be managed through Sindh Healthcare Commission.

IG Memon informed the conference that stated the cops are acting versus drug dealerships along with other companies in the province.
