BRAND-NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A 42-year-old man was reserved with heist and other offenses Sunday (April 24) after allegedly stealing a tip jar from a Jackson Square food supplier and punching a 50-year-old woman who gave chase, New Orleans authorities stated.
Kenneth Carlson was arrested in the French Quarter at 3:48 p.m. after what the NOPD referred to as a three-pronged criminal activity.
Authorities stated Carlson initially took a knife from a 47-year-old woman at a food stand, then went to a 59-year-old woman and took her food stand’s tip jar at knifepoint. That victim got the tip jar back, triggering Carlson to run away. However authorities stated a 50-year-old woman went after Carlson, up until the man punched her in the face.
Carlson was arrested and reserved into the Orleans Justice Center prison on single counts of heist, theft, basic battery and withstanding a law enforcement officer.
Court records reveal Carlson was arrested less than 3 weeks earlier, on April 7, on an claims of basic battery for which his bond was set at $1,000.
The records reveal Orleans Parish Magistrate Commissioner Jonathan Friedman last Thursday (April 21) purchased Carlson to be launched on his own recognizance, with the condition that he go into the LaArk drug and alcohol addiction treatment program.
However last Friday, the court record states Carlson “leapt out of the car carrying him to the LaArk program at a stop sign” and ran away. The court provided a warrant for his arrest, however he allegedly robbed and struck the ladies 2 days later on.
